Indebted Indian magnate fled furious creditors
As it became known on Tuesday, Vijay Mallya, left the country. He doesn’t return calls to court or his attorney. The creditors are furious: he ran into $1.3 worth of debt. The ex-owner of the Kingfisher’s company and later the Kingfisher’s Airlines went to London, as he claims, to visit his children. However, he is unreachable to the authorities.
The banks requested the Court to place a ban on Mallya’s departure from the country. However, he has left on March 2 without informing anyone about his decision. As Mallya says himself he is not trying to flee the debts. He is offended with such a presumption.
As the Guardian explains, Vijay Mallya used to be the “King of Good Times”, the founder of the Kingfisher’s beverages and later the Kingfisher’s Airlines. Unfortunately, all of his businesses with the course of time lost their profitability and even got him into great debts. At the moment he owns about $1.3 billion to the creditors.
