Nurofen charged with $6 million for misleading data
The consumers were offered four different options by Nurofen. The company claimed that the painkillers can target specific areas and fight against the pain, namely the headache, the back pain, period pains and migraine.
However, as the study by the Australian commission shows the content of the medicine is absolutely the same which means the producers were trying to sell their products for twice as much by providing the misleading information to the consumers.
The Commission has filed a lawsuit against the producers. However, the manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser says that the consumers were ready to pay more in order to get the medicine for the specific purpose which basically means that no violation was done to the rights of the consumers. The company is now not only accused of misleading the consumers but also for crediting them with extremely low level of intelligence, reports the Guardian.
