Michigan: no money for firefighters’ cancer treatment
Certain researches have proven that firefighters are more inclined to get cancer than any average person. After the conclusion announced, the authorities pulled the law that ensured funds to cover expenses for ten different types of cancer that can proceed from the work style.
However, when Stephen Babcock was examined and diagnosed with cancer in October 2015, the officials said that have no money to cover the medications. It became known that after the law was passed, no money was actually assigned to this specific matter. Babcock used his insurance plan to pay for the treatment as well as his family’s savings. Unfortunately, he passed away in February after four months of struggling with the disease.
In the view of the incident, the officials have allotted about 4 million dollars for the need of the firefighters suffering from certain types of cancer, reports the USA Today.
