Refugees sent back to Greece from the Macedonian borders
A group of countries in the Eastern Europe closed their borders in order to prevent a new flow of migrants to the Northern or Central Europe through the Balkan route. Thus, a great number of migrants got stuck at the frontier being not able to enter the country.
The tensions between Greece and Macedonia resulted into mass migrants’ sending back to Greece. The refugees had to struggle with the pouring rain that turned the roads into the rivers. Freezing and starving the migrants feel desperate. Local media reported that 3 refugees from Afghanistan died while trying to get to the other side of a fast-going river.
However, as the Guardian claims, there were rumors in the refugee camp that German insurgents encouraged the migrants to cross the borders illegally. Someone even made a sketch with a rough map on it. The map showed places where one can cross the border. The officials suspect Kommando Norbet Blüm, a German rebel that stayed in the camp to support the refugees, to be the author of a sketch.
